Cadence (2022)

Cadence is inspired by the south-west Portuguese coast and the winding paths I walked in early 2022 with my sisters. I drew from the shapes displayed in coastal erosion, as well as the textures of the vast sandy beaches and burnt orange trails.

Strong winds sweeping sand across the landscape and vegetation swaying back and forth are a few of the images I reflected on while creating this work. The collection is as visual as it is tactile, with shapes so smooth and familiar they ask to be touched, reminiscent of the goodness of nature.

Cadence evokes the pace and stamina that long-distance walking entails, but also the repetitive, rhythmical movements that go into the creation of my work.

The series includes stoneware lamps, vases and sterling silver jewellery.
