Oscille (2021)

Oscille is a collection of kinetic sculptures, made by hand using brass sheet and tubing.

The project was inspired by a trip to Japan in 2018, which shaped my thoughts on space and design, objects and negative space. I noticed a patience, calm and unique emphasis on emptiness, which I carried home with me. Oscille also draws from Calder’s extensive mobile work and his ability to create magic from the most basic, often industrial materials such as steel, aluminium and wire.

Oscille mobiles are intended to play with the viewer’s senses, creating a mystery of shadows, light reflections and negative space. They are designed to be as lightweight as possible, allowing each element to gently move and rotate. With each glance the composition changes slightly, akin to watching a flame or a fire, with the aim of inducing a sense of calm.
