Lamps for Artisème
(2025)

I took great pleasure in creating this series of five stoneware lamps for Artisème, marking my return to clay after a 2-year hiatus. This series combines smooth forms and spiral details, rooted in Celtic mythology and symbolising life cycles, birth and renewal.

The lamp bases were hand-built in stoneware clay using the traditional coiling technique, whereby clay coils are gradually added to the piece, then shaped, carved and finally twice-fired at high temperatures. The bases are married with brass hardware elements, textile cabling and off-white cotton lampshade.

Negative space comes into play ; I invite the viewer to consider not only the solid ceramic object, but also the space around it, which takes on new life.
